Wednesday Public Policy Luncheon Recap

At the 4th Annual Public Policy Luncheon, Dr. Robie Samanta-Roy, Assistant Director for Space and Aeronautics Technology Policy and Dr. Jaiwon Shin, Deputy Associate Administrator for Aeronautics at NASA rolled out the National Science and Technology Council's new National Aeronautics RYD plan. This plan provides a roadmap for Federal investment in aeronautics RDT&E and supporting infrastructure to maintain US leadership in an ever more competitive global market place. The plan is broken down into seven defined challenges which face aeronautics R&D, and further establishes criteria based on short-term, mid-term, and long-term requirements and investments. Dr. Roy stressed the importance of addressing next generation aerospace workforce policy issues, and also invited AIAA membership to remain involved in preparing the technical planning that will be required to execute the new National Plan.
